Explore Kawartha Lakes

Kawartha Lakes is home to more than 75,000 permanent and 30,000 seasonal residents. Nearly 1.4 million people visit us each year seeking the cottage lifestyle made possible by our 250 lakes and rivers.

Just 90 minutes North East of Toronto, Kawartha Lakes has a variety of beautiful communities, each with their own unique charm. You can enjoy a day on our trails, an evening at the theatre and the best locally-grown food you’ve ever tasted. If that weren’t enough, our 250 lakes and rivers offer endless opportunities for exploration.

How to get here

Driving

Kawartha Lakes is accessible by four provincial highways that are open year-round and are well maintained.  Highway 35, Highway 115, Highway 7A and Highway 7.  These highways link to municipal roads throughout Kawartha Lakes that connect our towns and villages.

Kawartha Lakes is a short 90 minute drive (132 km or 82 mile) north-east of Toronto.  We are located approximately 4 hours south-west Ottawa, 2.5 hours north-east of Niagara Falls, and 2 hours south of Algonquin Park.

For more information on getting around when you are here and inspiration for your itinerary during your visit, browse through this site or contact us at Kawartha Lakes Tourism.
